Crackheads don't use the internet, duuuuuur.
I did sweet FA in terms of clubs/societies last year but am interested in this. one thing though do they have a centre in/near lancaster because i dont want to have to go liverpool all the time.

And another thing would someone who isnt very fit be welcome? im strong, can sprint well etc etc but totally lack stamina and can hardly run 500m without my lungs ripping themselves out.

i'm not too sure about the OTC but i know if you join the UAS you have to go to liverpool once a week,as it is the liverpool air squadron you join through lancs...and i should imagine you'd have to have pretty good stamina in any of these programmes :s get on those jogging shoes!!

i think they provide a free bus ride to liverpool - its not too far away (about an hour). people who i've spoken to about the OTC @ lancaster said that going to liverpool wasn't a real problem.

i'm not all that fit either. i'm hoping that the OTC can motivate me to increase my fitness. go to the selection and see what they say.
Yeah I'm definitely joining.

I went to a taster weekend and it was great fun, free, a good way of making friends and there is an extremely high standard of leadership training so it's excellent for your CV!
Why not?

I'm starting on October 2nd. I'm gonna be in Cartmel College and doing Maths & Stats.

Planning on joining the UOTC, even though I'm currently pretty unfit (I've let myself go during my gap year, still skinny but just no stamina at the moment!) but hopefully the UOTC would give me a helping hand getting back into shape lol

I've looked at this too  relaly looks like something I'd like to give ago, but does anyone know how much swimming and stuff like that is involved in it? Dont think I'd have any trouble with the training and stuff, I'm just not a strong swimmer...
I'll be joining, I was in the ACF before i turned 18, so I can give a pretty good guess at what'll be going down.

btw there's a lot of hate on this thread :P:
Always has a plan to join the forces, and was in the cadets so OTC has always been the plan for me....buuuuut I've got a few injuries which means there is no way I will be able to complete the selection, does this basically mean tough luck, wait until next year?

I would assume so, but I would say just speak to somebody when they are at Lancaster on the 7th.

Also, what exactly are the requirements, I looked on the website about the UOTC and couldn't find them out.
From mates in other OTC units, it is a pretty easy physical selection involving a mile and a half run (11.30 mins to do it in maybe?)
`1 and 44 press ups in 2 minutes - you'll only fail it if you get lost! But I simply won't be able to do either of those at the moment :frown: I guess I will try send them an email in advance or something, see what the score is
