Why does our fashion suck???

Well why
We have a terrible sense of fashion wearing unflattering jeans and long tops, footless tights and burnt straight hair. Beads. Bad makeup.
I've just spent the last week in Paris, the fashion there is amazing, the french seem to be able to pull anything off and it looks so naturally stylish.
I'm depressed, I got home and people are either
a) totally boring
b) way over the top
c) wearing unflattering clothes
or d) clones.

Its not the range of clothes in the shops...its the people. Bloody sheep.
Anyone else agree on this point
What do you think about British fashion.
I don't think we have class anymore.

Personally I dont think our fashion sucks, thats a matter of opinion.

You might think that other people look boring, wear unflattering clothes or are clones, but if they feel comfortable and like what they're wearing, I cant see what the problem is.

footless tights rock

In my opinion I think it's down to the individual. Some people can follow every trend going, but then there are some who wear clothes in their own unique way and make them look amazing.

Not everyone wears footless tights and beads and has straightened hair so I don't think you're justified in everything that you're saying.

I think i'm just in love with the fashion in Paris...they look like they're comfortable in their clothes...here it doesn't seem that way, it seems to overdone

its usually pearls, and over here, it is sooo easy to tell who the brits are and wo the spaniards are!!! Sadly most brits look like slappers, or as though theyhave just walked out of Topshop and bought the entire mannequin! You also find that most of the girls are overweight and pull themselves into tiny size 8 hotpants and stuf! its so vulgar!!!

I agree the average brit has no class!!

I totally disagree.

Just because you've seen a minority of people looking like 'slappers' as you put it, you cant assume that everyone is the same. I think thats a little unfair.

This thread sounds really snobby to me, if you dont like British fashion then just dont wear it!

im talking about a group of people who visit a sapin, thats a hell of a lot more than a minority IMO!!! I can honestly say that i have never seen a british women look nice over here!!! Im not lying or joking, im being deadly serious! Perhaps the holiday atmosphere in Spain, changes a womans dress code however, most women wear miniskirts, false pearls, large gold hoops etc!! Naturally some women in Britain will dress smart, there is no denying that, i am just commenting on the many thousands of brits i have seen in Spain!

i can see where you're coming from, but I promise you that every country has people who dress like 'slappers'!

Also, after visiting places like America, I think our choice and variety of shops is much nicer than theirs - the plainer, preppy look seems to dominate almost every kind of shop there.

People on holiday will always wear completely different stuff than they will when they're at home, just because of the difference in weather, also people like to look different and 'dress up' when they go abroad, yes admittedly some people look a state but you cant pin that down to every British woman, I definately dont go out looking like a 'slapper' when Im on holiday. And anyway, if thats what people want to wear then thats up to them, I dont go round judging people on what they wear.

I dont actually think British fashion is that bad, and what people seem to forget is that the trends from other countries, including Paris probably, influence what is in fashion over here.

Why don't you just move to Paris then?

But if you don't like it there's not that many shops around that don't sell it.

And yes, the majority of our fashion does suck quite a bit. The only fashion I ever even remotely liked are the longer tops/dress shirts, as I like covering my bum

I disagree with "fashion" anyway. Sheep feel far too much pressure to spend loads of money on clothes they'll wear for six months. Aye, some people can turn it around to look decent, but most don't.

but i said that, maybe women dress differently on hols, however short mini skirts on a 15 stone women- should be a style NONO!!Which is why i say that youcan tell a brit from a spaniard!

And i agree, you should make youre own fashion!!

I'm American and when I spent time in the UK I thought all the girls looked alike. Too many British girls see a mannequin and copy the exact outfit!
I was in Oxford and thought maybe it was just that city. But no...when I went to Cardiff, Chester, and Liverpool it was the same thing!

exactly :p: they buy the shop window!

I see what the thread starter's getting at, you can't say the fashion here is great when you walk into a public place and see at least 10 people wearing the same type of outfit.

I think if everyone didn't try to fit into one specific 'scene' or group, there would be a lot more quirky styles, and less clones. But saying that, it is hard to find anything other than the passing trends in the shops...

wow a few parisians have a bit of style, London dwellers are pretty stylish. You want to see the rest of France... I think Brits are getting more stylish tbh, remember what we all looked like in the late 90's. Imo the Americans have the least style.
