    can anyone explain how to do q2aii in the attached paper, as i seem to keep getting -0.5 instead of 2?

    What have you done so far? Have you put the sum of the moments of the given forces equal to the moment of the resultant.? It certainly gives the answer 2.

    ive used i and j components separately, then found the line of action of i component, but somehow think ive gone off on the wrong track

    just realised id got sets of numbers wrong way round-really stupid mistake i know and shouldve spotted it by 3rd attempt!
