I'm commuting also (about 20 minutes) and was/am slightly worried about not meeting people also. However, my friend last year lived out of halls last year and said you still meet people as easily, but it's people on your course obviously. But, don't worry - I'm sure it'll be fine! If not, can't all is commuters just huddle together? Haha!

Personally i'm going to go to as many events as possible. However, i don't drink much and i don't fancy going into clubs on my own (i probably won't know anybody to begin with) There's also fresher's fare and societies to join. I'm sure they'll be something to do!

I'm commuting by train. (Lincoln-Sheffield train route) it takes me around 25-30 minutes. I've done the journey many times so it's kinda easy now.
As for freshers I plan to just book a hotel for a night or two (as the last train back home is quite early) so I can take it all in and meet some new people.
