I'm trying to go through adjustment to a university, they imply there are places available and then ask me for my A-Level grades. At this point, I explain I studied an access course and tell them my grades; they then 'check' with their supervisor and return saying they are now uncertain as to whether they have places and should ring back later. I've been through this process several times but now they want me to ring back on Monday - being a popular course the places will likely be taken by then.

I don't understand, I far surpass their usual offer for Access courses but they seem not to want me?

This does seem unusual- does the university normally accept offers from access courses, and is yours in an appropriate subject? It sounds like the university is specifically looking for A-level applicants, or there may be some problem in the university staff's training.

If it were me, I would ring the university one more time, and ask to speak to someone more senior. Ask them outright if they are interested in candidates from an access course. Hopefully, they will give you something approaching a straight answer and move on from there. If you are still told to call back on Monday, then do that- I don't think they'd tell you to do so if they thought there were no chance of places.

In the meantime, I would explore other options WRT courses/universities you might be interested in.

Which university is causing you the problems?

I thought so too . Both the university and course accept the access course I have studied, or so it says on both UCAS and the university's website. I asked to talk to the supervisor the time that I was told to wait two hours because I was uncertain as to whether the person on the phone understood what course I had taken, the same thing happened there and he suggested I rang back in two hours. I think I will try ringing and asking whether they are only looking for A-Level candidates though, that seems like the best way to get a straight answer. Thank you for your advice!

Would it be okay to PM you that info? I feel like combined with the details above it might make me identifiable><.
