So I've done well to drop 1 dress size to a size 10/12 (and hoping to go for 8/10!) but I want to start putting on a bit of muscle to be stronger.
Now to be frank, Im a weakling. So how do I start using weights on arms and gaining muscle on legs?

Well you can't gain muscle on legs by working out your arms for a start.
Squatting is the best compound exercise you can do for your legs full stop. Start squatting like this:
