So I have just received my AS-Level results and I got BBCE, an E in maths. I have thought about the accounting finance route for sometime but after this result I am in doubt. This was my second year at AS-Level as I had to switch colleges due to extenuating circumstances. I understand the maths but when it comes to the exams I just seem to capitulate. Ultimately my question is do I need a maths A-level to peruse a degree, and maybe further, in accounting? I know its preferable but is it a necessity?

How do you think people with BTECs get into university when they don't even do maths A Level?

    Hi Jordan,

For the BA Accounting & Finance programme that we offer, there is a lot of help available to you during your first and second year including modules you can choose if you're not too confident with the maths elements, and there are also regular tutorials and drop in sessions available to you for help. Many students will join this course without an A-Level in maths and go on to graduate with good grades.

More information on the Accounting & Finance programme can be found here, and if you'd like to apply, you can call our confirmation and clearing hotline on 01752 58 58 58 (we still have a few places available).

I hope this helps and if you have any more questions, just ask.

    Regards

    Hi Jordan

Congratulations on your A level results.

You’re right some universities do require you to have A Level Maths however for the Accounting and Finance Degrees at Kaplan you would not need A level Maths.

Looking at the results above you have provided and provided you have GCSE Maths at grade C or above you would meet the entry requirements for our Two Year and Three Year degree programmes.

If you want to drop us a call on 0207 403 8080 one of my colleagues can give you further information, or you could send us an email at [email protected]
    Vicky
