I don't know if you are familiar with my story but quick snapshot.

    BBD - Alevels
1st class- Financial economics- cov uni

Okay so with my Alevels im more likely to get filtered out in job applications so i've been cold calling IB's lately. Anyways i spoke to a director at a BB i found his name on google so the receptionist just put me through.

I asked to shadow him for a week, he took my number and name and said someone will contact me soon.

    What do i do?

Wait ? or Call as soon as monday arrives??

And has anyone had success with this style?

Wait, if you've heard nothing by next Friday, drop him a friendly enquiry about when you might hear (make up going away Bank Holiday week or similar). I know it's exciting for you, but it's extra work for him and who ever he talks to and that will be done as and when the opportunity arises.
