You won't be the only one living at home. You can still join in on the fresher events. Remember everyone there is going to try to make friends. It seems a lot harder than it actually is. you will also make friends with the people in your class.

Spend as little time as possible at home and you almost won't have a different situation than others (exept meeting new flatmates etc.). Try to be as outgoing as possible, but always stay genuine.

hiya, i kinda know how your feeling, but all you have to do is try to relax but be as out going as you can, so ppl will see who you r, i know it may be hard, but you have to try

remember, most people will be feeling how you are now, so theres no need to feel alone or worried: were all going to be in the same position

if you dont want people to think you're an idiot - dont write in mixed normal and text language, complete with the start of every word in a capital letter ...

Dude, this is a forum, not an English essay! And i actually wrote that whole thing out in capital letters but for some reason, only the start of every word was a capital letter! Try it for yourself!

I'm thinking filter to stop people making really irritating posts that are in all capital letters?

That is true, but it isn't just cause for abusing our eyes.

Point to be noted. I apologise. But I still deserve an explanation as to why I was warned!

Maybe for making idiotic posts? Milk gets stolen, big deal, it happens to everyone at some point!

And please stop with the text speak!

But it weren't only about the milk! It was also about mixing in with flat mates! Dudes, you are all too cranky! And I've stopped with the text speak, what's wrong with you?!

Reply 12

Nothings wrong with anybody, I presume.

If you don't make the effort with your flatmates, theres no chance of you getting to know them, therefore not making friends with them.

Just talk to them. Easy.

Im really worried about freshers week im living at home you see and im kinda shy and now im thinking it was a bad idea to stay at home. I ve been feeling real excited about starting uni but now that is getting closer im worried i won't make friends and during freshers week will be stuck at home. Does anyone have any advice for me? Thanks

Freshers week blah! It is not the time to make friends. You will meet many many random people during that week, many of which you will never see again; even if you do see them again, they are likely to be aquaintances. Nothing more, nothing less....

You are more likely to make friends through your degree, or if you were living on campus - you are likely to make friends with the people surrounding you.

Did someone say Doddy??

Your screwed im afraid. Living at home was a HUGE mistake. Your have to try twice as hard to make regular friends, especially if your shy. Have some independance and next year (too late) leave home.

But dont worry your not doomed just screwed

That's crap advice and not true at all

You can make life long friends at Uni and some of them you'll meet in freshers week, whilst some you'll meet in lectures or workshops or even in the library. Don't worry about living at home, it won't hinder you
