Any students who have passed second year willing to offer advice on extra reading? watch

So apparently extra reading will be necessary to get a 2:1 or above from second year onwards. During first year, I only really turned to books if there was something I missed or didn't understand, but presumably that won't be enough anymore.

The problem is, lecturers have been very vague on what they expect from us. I realise it's probably very hard to quantify, but does anyone have guidelines for how much extra reading I should be doing? A little bit for every lecture? Only on the topics I find interesting? etc.
