    Hey Guys,

I am going to be studying Computer Science at Kent, and I've been wondering what the best laptop is for the job? Im going to be taking my desktop computer up there for my halls room, however I want a laptop to take to and fro to allow me to work somewhere that isnt my room.

Is a macbook a viable option? or are there too many clashes in OS that would make my life difficult?

I would say get a mac because firstly you will get a student discount and I think £60 apple voucher or something. Obviously as a CS student you would want to program for macs/iOS and only macs can run objective C/Swift so you are better of getting a mac. Also OSx Yosemite and ios8 are gonna be syncing in real time so all your documents and stuff will be on all your devices at all times for easy access. Macs just does the job and last longer.

    Good luck in Uni

Just get whatever you can afford, even a £250 laptop. The programs you'll be using aren't resource intensive.
I'm going into second year of computer systems engineering and shared my programming lectures with the computer science guys.
