I got my results on Thursday and I got AAA but I'm thinking of getting a few remarks. I've secured my uni place but I kinda just want closure on whether I got an A* or not because I really hoping on beating my predicted grades of AAA so that I could take a gap year and reapply for either UCL and Imperial for chemistry (leaning towards chemistry but maybe physics). My current place is for Physics.

I live in London and my current uni place is outside London, I don't have a problem with moving out but I just don't have a good feeling about my university. I've always had my hopes set on UCL/Imperial.

When I worked out my averages, they were really close to 90% so it really bugs me.
    Maths (OCR MEI) A, C3 - 96/100, C4 - 81/100 - I've already put remarks (C4 is priority) in for both as my average 88.5% -
    Chemistry (OCR) A, F324 - 86/90, F325 - 124/150, F326 - 54/60 that is 89% - I've put both F324 (normal) and F325 (priority) in for remarks.

    I haven't put physics (AQA PHYSICS A - overall grade A) in for remark yet but I got: PHA4 - 105/120 PHA5D - 98/120 PHA6T - 60/60 that is 87.7%, should I put PHA4 and PHA5D for remarks?

What's the likelihood of these remarks actually being successful? Should I also remark physics?

I'm just so confused Can anybody just calm me down and give me some good advice?

On the physics, you are 23 UMS clear the A/B boundary on your A2 side and 7 UMS off the A/A* boundary on the whole A level. To judge the risk of losing your A in Physics, there are two things.

First your AS. Anything above an A in AS physics would add to your 23 UMS clearance of being safe. Anything underneath an A would decrease that clearance.

Secondly, how do you think you actually did/what grade should your exam have been given?
**Only you can know about this likelihood.
It is not that difficult to know what grade your script was worth in science exams. You can request a photocopy of your script back if not sure. Compare with solutions on TSR.

    Personal experience:
Three years ago I received 82 as my C3 result. I was gutted as I knew I couldn't have got that low. Knowing that an increase by 4 UMS (which I knew was 2 raw marks through the grade boundaries) would mean an A* in Maths, I went for a re-mark. The increase in grade was not necessary for my university entrance and a decrease by a certain amount would actually mean missing my offer. But I was so sure.

I received an e-mail from my school and a letter from Edexcel a week or two later saying my grade had now gone up to an A* after in light of getting 92 in C3. That's an increase of 10 UMS/5 raw marks.

I'm never going to know now, but I always wondered how such a mistake could happen.
I have a feeling that it was an admin error rather than a judgement error, in that they probably pressed 8 instead of 9 or something, because you can't have that big of an error in a maths paper right?

Anyway good luck to whatever you choose.

**= I've posted everything below this on other threads but still applies.

Out of interest which uni would you be going to this year that you don't have a good feeling about?
