clothes that make your hips look bigger

What clothes can I wear to make my hips appear bigger than they are? I've noticed that long top can really accentuate the hips and make that whole area look bigger if they end at the right point (still long, but about halfway down the bum). That got me thinking... maybe there are other clothes that make hips appear bigger (and so make your waist look smaller, making you look nice and curvy).

Have any of you noticed certain clothes/styles/um, things that make your hips appear bigger?

hahaha, all this talk about hourglass figures in the other thread... just reminded me I wanted to ask this question

lol I was going to suggest longer tops, but nothing else I can think off..more specifically, those puff sleeved long tops topshop are doing at the moment can really make you look slightly curvier than you actually are, (im quite skinny so i know what you mean).

oh and skinny jeans also..they make your hips look bigger then they are, so you could also try those..anything else practically makes me look like I have no curves whatsoever.
Skinny jeans with a long horizontal stripey top maybe and a waist cincher belt?

Hee I'm so jealous by the way-saw this thread title and was like 'i hate her' lol i'm just kidding-you look lovely in your profile pic btw.

Puff sleved long tops? Really? Wow, I never thought of anything with puffy sleeves... I will be sure to try some on! Well, I'll check them out on the website and then look around in the shops here and see if they have anything similar.

And thanks for that tip about skinny jeans too! Hmm... I had some but they were too short and not skinny enough around my calves so I made them into shorts... but with high enough boots they would still be skinny - also they are light coloured so that should help even more, shouldn't it? Eh, that benefit of skinny jeans still works if you wear them with boots, right? Cause I don't think I'd dare to wear them any other way
Even with boots... that would be very daring thing for me to do, hehehe. I have this phobia of wearing anything fashionable

Hehehe, thanks! I will have to try on a long stripy top and waisted belt... I have recently bought a top like that! But I've not combined it with a waisted belt since I don't have one. Will look around and see if I can find one somewhere and see what it looks like on me!

Hehehe, we always want what we don't have... from the old photos of my mum it seems like she had the figure I always dreamed of and yet all she ever wanted was to look like I do now - hardly any curves and small breast, hahaha!

yeah... just once to look like Marilyn Monroe...
Hehehe

but hey, those who want their hips to look smaller can use this thread too - just don't wear anything that's suggested in this thread and they'll look smaller!
Wear trousers that have details at the hips, pockets, funky stitching, obvious belt. I have the opposite probs and found a gorgeous pair of trousers just like that, tried them on and aaaa - hips the size of a small country. (So for me, troursers with detail vertically or below the knee, makes legs look longer and so hips proportionally smaller)
And corsets, maybe don't go all out scary type, but bodices with boning and lacing are fantastic for defining waist, but for more casual, tops with waist darts and buy tees that are actually shaped coz they're more flattering and emphasise the curvy shape.

Ooohh... corset type top might be good for going out though... hehehe, thanks!

I wanted to buy a new belt anyway... and I could easly sew details onto jeans! Thanks for the all the advice! I'll have to try all this stuff out!

maybe you could just try the opposite of what was suggested here?

don't wear the extra long tops, nor belts that would draw attention to that area or skinny jeans, but ones with slight flares.
I find that my hips look bigger with light colour jeans and small with dark coloured jeans. So dark colour jeans might help you, especially if they are slightly flared or at least straight cut.

Of course I can't understand why you'd want to hide your curves, since I want some, hehehe.
Belts around your hips generally make them look slightly bigger because you're bulking them up with accessories and yeah skinny jeans like everyone else has said  Good luck with getting big hips  xxx
Hipster trousers and tight-fitting trousers.

i'd wear a big chunky belt to draw atraction to your hip area, although i'm no expert.

when i do wear a belt though i just feel stupid because its meant to be worn by those who actually have hips

hmmm... maybe there are some big belts around that look like skinny people are supposed to wear them too? :-S

Most of my trousers are a bit loose fitting... hmm...

thanks for the tip!

@LadyEnglish & ninjapanda

yeah, I suppose a belt would bulk it up and work alone for that reason... now I have to see if I can find one that is nice and that'll I'll want to wear.
