    Hello,

Although I am in my first year, I welcome all year students to participate in this little survey. Plus, you don't have to be at Cardiff uni to take part.

I have just completed my first year at Cardiff Uni and today I tried calculating all my spending (academic year 2013 to 2014). I haven't taken into account my university hall rent. It includes all other stuff like shopping at Lidl etc. For me, it comes to 1770.71 pounds, beginning from Sept 2013 to June 2014. I calculated this today because I had the constant feeling that I was spending so much money mindlessly.

Please, mention your year, course and also uni?
How much does your spending come to?
What tips/ tricks do you use to cut down on your spending?
Did you have a part time job?

Thank you so much for your time.

Was a first year, chemistry degree, hull university.

How much does your spending come to?

It came to around £4500 not including accommodation, I didn't budget at all as I wanted to live first year to the fullest, meaning I did live on 15p value spaghetti for lunch for 2 months, all part of student life

What tips/ tricks do you use to cut down on your spending?

Don't spend all your student loan in the first month and be a grand in debt by the end of the first semester haha. Still trying to dig myself out of that one...

Did you have a part time job?
I did for the first 3 months, the money all went to waste though...

Second year Economics at Leeds Met.

    No part time job.

Total of about 4600 including rent. This total only applies to 9 months though as I ignored July-September.
