    Dear current Biomed students/graduates,

Hi I'm a student about to enter Year 13 and I am strongly considering applying for Biomedical Science(s) as a degree option. I was wondering if any advice or insight could be given about the degree, such as job prospects, the advantages/disadvantages of a placement year, and whether an IBMS accredited degree is better/worse for progressing onto a Masters etc. afterwards.

I understand you must all be busy so any advice is much appreciated!

A placement year is hugely beneficial in terms of gaining experience which is otherwise quite difficult to get. Getting a placement is a competitive process though. An accredited degree only makes a difference if you want to work as a biomed scientist in the NHS. You just need a first or a 2.1 to get onto a masters course and experience is useful.

Do you agree with the PM's proposal to cut tuition fees for some courses?
