i'm not sure which to apply to, they both seem lovely. i want to study history and english language. i know kent is quiter but i heard you end up meeting a lot of people and become close due to that so that made me lean towards kent. also kent is nearer to london. however birmingham is a much more prestigious uni. which do you think is nicer? i know birmingham is ranked higher. i'm scared i won't make friends in birmingham. also do you think birmingham are lenient with grades? and i've heard that in birmingham most people are asian/black, i was wondering if this is true. any feedback from people who have been to these uni's would be appreciated, what you liked/disliked about either, thanks.

Well I applied for both Kent and Birmingham and they both gave others that would be equivalent to an AAB (I did a BTEC) I came to study Social Policy. Both of them offered flexible courses in my subject. I would not say that Birmingham is better then Kent. Birmingham is very likely to be more expansive, and the scholarship options at Kent are much better then at Birmingham. Obviously Canterbury is nowhere near as big as Birmingham, so if you are looking for a city lifestyle don't come to Kent. However Canterbury is a much safer place and everything is within walking distance, plus it is just a great place to be. Pretty much all major retail chains can also be found, despite the size. Birmingham is likely to be more traditional, and as someone with Disabilities, I can't say that I like that. I prefer a more casual learning environment, and I think that's where Kent wins over Birmingham in my eyes.

    I hope that helps.

For anything to do with History, Kent is your best choice. I think it's either 1st or 2nd in the country for it's History department. Campus is fantastic, people are great, and because there are so many students here (3 Universities in Canterbury) there are student everywhere.

It's almost like a student city!
