changing my degree

Hi. I am to start Mechanical engineering at UCL but I have found out that this department is terrible in rankings and has very low student satisfaction. However I want to give it a try but I was wondering whether it is possible to change (for example for other engineering degree) if rankings show the truth and it is really bad. Anyone can help? Thanks
It's usually fine to switch between subjects within a certain time limit (usually 2 or 3 weeks), especially if they're similar, but your best bet is probably to contact your relevant department directly. Obviously don't mention the bad rankings haha, but just ask if it would be possible to switch courses at some point if you feel the subject you're taking isn't right for you (you could say you were originally torn between the two subjects or something). :P
