Rumours

Hi,

I'm posting this as anon as a friend or two of mine read these boards and it's not worth the hassle.

Last night some friends and I went out drinking. I was told by a friend that one of my good friend had cheated on her ex boyfriend while they were together. I knew this wasn't true as it's just not in her nature, so this morning I let her know what was being said so she could set it straight before someone (i.e. the ex, also a friend) got hurt.

Then this evening the person who I was told was saying the rumours has turned around and said it's ME doing it and what a nasty piece of work I am, etc etc. Strange thing is, I even told my friend (who the rumours were about) the person would not be maliciously saying these rumours as it's not in their nature and it's surely just a mix up. How foolish I was.

Anyway, thoughts? Should I not have told my friend what was being said about her? I genuinely thought I was doing the best by stopping it before anyone got hurt.

I think you did the right thing in telling your friend

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thinks it was right then. Not that I could undo it, but it helps.

but does your freind also believe that you are spreading the rumours?

No, my friend knows I was looking out for her and knows how malicious some of the people we know are. Luckily!
Least your friend knows it wasn;t you, clearly some of the others have got issues.

well you have nothing to worry about then, you've got a true freind and to hell with this other girl just don't bother with this girl in the future
