I got no birthday cards :(

It was my birthday recently and I only got cards from immediate family. I must admit.. I was on holiday at the time but no-one had posted any cards to me and I've been back a few days now and no-ones bothered. I didn't even get any texts.

I feel so depressed now. I haven't even heard from my so called best friend (although we are growing apart I guess.. see my other posts lol).

It's not as if I don't make an effort - I always give friends birthday cards/presents or even just send a text if I'm not that close to them.. why are people so mean sometimes?

I can't remember any of my friends birthdays.

Don't worry about it!

The comforting Yahooey would like to point out that most people are forgetful and not to worry about it as long as the relationships in general are fine. I mean, they're only cards, you know?

The comforting Yahooey has spoken.

It is the summer holidays. Sorry, it seems harsh, but maybe their all busy and don't have their minds on things at home. If it makes things any easier, birthdays are completely unimportant and usually ****, so don't worry about it.

My birthday is near christmas and everyone forgets about it. My dad has forgotten three times in the last four years, so I know exactly how you feel. He only remembered last year because I happened to be flying home on my bday.

I got one birthday card from a friend, and also a text off him. Both were sarcastic because we both know that neither of us gives a **** about birthdays. Nothing off anyone else. Don't let it get to you.

Meh, it happens, people forget. I only remember my birthday anyway :P

Don't take it personally, now you can guilt trip everyone into anything  ^_^

I wish I could be so blase about my birthday but I do receive at least 20 cards each year - however at least 15 of these cards are a product of a very loud hint and as I get older, frankly I can't be bothered. I come from a large-ish family, and them and rellies make up half of my cards, the others are from friends/mates/work people/boyf (when I have one) If I didn't remind people, I'd probably only get from family. And I'm rubbish when it comes to sending cards as I only send to who sent me on my birthday!

Not sure what point I've made, but I see where you're coming from, I'm kind of the same as you..

I kinda know how you feel. Only one of my friends remembered it was my birthday in july just gone..and she phoned me up the day after..dunno what reminded her! When i saw 2 of my mates in august they were talking about how they're gonna be 20 soon and i was like "haha i'm younger than you" and then they remembered my birthday had gone..one was convinced that she phoned me! at first i was kinda annoyed but then i thought hmm i cant be bothered! Someone at work got me a card and other people there said happy birthday to me, so it was all right.

People just forget I guess. It doesn't mean they don't like you. Don't worry about it

That seems really harsh i know it that was me i would be really hurt. Sometimes things like this happen maybe they just forgot or they thought they was no need to do anything as you were on holiday.

Don't you just hate it when birthdays are in the summer holidays. I'm the same because none of my friends rememebered my birthday but i've forgotten about it. Am Afraid, you only realise who your close friends are when you experience these kind of harsh situations. I'd jus say learn from it. You just need to realise that some people are really self - centred and do what that want without taking no consideration how other people might feel. let it go. Go out with your other friends and make some new ones. Don't put up long term friendships unless both parties are putting an equal amount of effort into it.

Birthdays get progressively more rubbish as you grow up, I swear!

This year I didn't get a cake, and was distraught for all of about 5 minutes.

In fact, I get paid on Friday... my birthday may have been a few months ago, but goshdarnit, I'm going to buy myself a Birthday Cake - and I don't care how sad that sounds.

More importantly I'm going to eat it all myself.
