Should i lose weight?

This might sound a little weird but stay with me.

Some days i think that i should diet and lose weight and other days i am perfectly happy with the way that i am.

Firstly let me just say that im not Obese or even that fat, i do have a bit of extra weight tho. SO its not really for health issues that i need to or want to lose weight.

Confidence is uaully the other factor as to why people want to lose weight. Well my changes, sometimes i am confident and sometimes im not, i have had a few giirlfriends who have never commented or suggested that my extra little bit of weight is a problem.

But some days i wake up and look at myself in the mirror and think boy i really need to lose weight. And so i will start a diet etc and exercise but then other days i will wake up and look at myself and be happy with what i see so i will not bother with dieting or things.

Today is the kind of day when i think that i do need to lose weight, im about to go to Uni and was trying on clothes out of my wardrobe and some were really tight, things that i used to like wearing etc.

Question is how do i decide either way, i know losing weight cant really be a bad thing, but if im happy with how i am sometimes and i dont enjoy exercising and i do enjoy foods that are not generally good for ya how can i convince myself that getting into better shape is a good thing.

Its just so confusing:confused:

The awesome Yahooey thinks that if you have it's a good idea for everyone to be in good shape as it can only ever improve your confidence.

Do you think you would have days where you would feel you need to lose weight if you regularly lifted weights and had a decent diet, and when you looked in the mirror you saw a 6 pack, decent pair of pecs, large arms and shoulders etc.?

Probably not.

The awesome Yahooey thinks you should definitely get in better shape because it WILL give you more confidence, make you look better and make you fitter and stronger.

At last!! Someone on here who can actually spell "lose".

Yahooey you do my head in.

I feel the same some days. But I'm always on a diet. Yawn.
I would say you don't need to lose any weight.

If I were to right my situation down, it would read exactly like yours. I've decided as long as I watch and don't put any more weight then I should be ok. I think in todays society we're led to believe what we should look like. I think you should be ok. Don't fret too much.

i don't know what your bmi is so i can't say whether you need to lose weight or not.
maybe if you exercise more? that may give you the confidence.. when you exercise your body will be much healthier than if you don't, and it'll give you a peace of mind that even if you don't lose weight, that you're perfectly healthy.

my friends compared to me are much skinnier than me, i don't envy it though because i work out more than them so i know i am looking after my health which is more important than being skinny.

The awesome Yahooey asks that you please don't use BMI as a measure of health. According to the BMI, Yahooey is overweight, yet he is about 10/11% bodyfat, he just weighs a lot because he is muscular. Bodyfat percentage is what he should be looking at, not an arbitrary measurement such as BMI which cannot possibly account for differences in lean body mass.

grandiosity/desperate attempt to show individuality

it works though, people remember him for it...how important it is i dunno
I'm the same as you OP- I'm not really overweight but I'm not as thin as I could be. Some days I'm confident and other days I do feel as though I could lose a few pounds. I really can't do diets personally, I think they're awful. I'm hoping I'll lose weight at uni through being too busy to snack.
If hitting the salad = happiness, then to the crisper...
