When does student finance pay my fees?

I got an e-mail today from my Uni with a £9,000 invoice that has to be payed in 7 days although it says "If you are in receipt of tuition fee support from the Student Loan Company (SLC), this invoice is for information purposes only"

So when does student finance pay the Uni for me? And do I get notified that it's been received?

I think it gives you dates on your student finance entitlement letter, in the payment timetable section.

Your Student Finance will be paid after you enrol at uni - usually during induction or freshers' week.

After you enrol, the uni conforms it to SF who then release your funds. The date on your SF notification is effectively the earliest date at which you might get your money. In reality, it depends how fast your uni are at communicating with SF.

It doesn't really matter with Tuition Fee Loans anyway - they go direct from SF to the uni. You will only be contacted if the uni doesn't get the money from SF.
