Used up my gift year are my new course choices limited?!

Hi, sorry for the long post but I'm totally confused.

I've just finished the first year of a fashion design course, however, I felt the the course wasn't for me and I wasn't enjoying it so now I'm going to take a year out and re apply for uni in 2015.

However, in terms of student finance I understand that I have used up my 'gift year' but what does this actually mean? Does it mean that I can now only apply for a 3 year ba course? or can I apply for a 4 year one e.g one with a foundation year or year in industry or year abroad? I'm very confused about this and would like some clarification on what my finance would actually be now that I've already been funded for one year but am now wanting to apply for something else :s-smilie: I'm not in a position to be able to pay my own fees so would this mean I am limited to only 3 year undergrad courses or can I apply for a 4 year course and still received 4 years funding?
