Oh my god! Lisa's mum are you unhappy with my comments???? I just wondered as you have quoted my posts in your latest posts saying that you cannot believe some of the comments on here.

I cannot believe some of the comments on here either but i thought mine were nice and helpful. I'm sorry if you have taken them the wrong way. Did anyone else think my comments were out of line??? I'll remove them if that is the case.

I'm beginning to wonder if the 95% female thing that Lisa's mum is talking about is for the actual course and not the university. If this is the case I would maybe believe it but isn't it true of all universities that more females than male study psychology. Sorry not trying to be sexist or anything.

Oh my God. I cannot believe this is still going on.

Royal Holloway >>>>> Winchester.

In fact, most British universities >>>>>> Winchester.

I live about half an hour from Winchester in a town remarkably similar. Trust me, it gets boring if you're 18/19/20. And it's not that close to London. Nor a beach. And Southampton's not all it's cracked up to be (if it's cracked up to be anything at all).

Whatever, I honestly hope she enjoys it but there are so many places she could have gone to that would have been so much better. C'est la vie.

I was taught to tell the truth, regardless of whether it's nice or not. You asked for advice so we've given it truthfully as current UK students. It's just a shame you wouldn't listen, Lisa's loss :frown:

Lisa's Mum
There are loads of international students going to U of Winchester, in fact Lisa is there for orientation next week, one day for US students and the other for all the EU students. Look at the comment I posted about all the research from guides we purchased and Lisa is not interested in going on a SR as obviously there are some rude mindless chat line geeks on the other end! Smart girl! I am not on here, my research is finished and have had some wonderful conversations with those that continue to PM me, but all of you need to be much nicer and didn't your mother ever tell you "if you don't have something nice to day, don't say it" as you come across as being rather brash, for lack of a better word. Get a life!

Excuse me, but if the reason you are calling people 'geeks' is because they use this site than that applies equally to you. Look, people are giving advise and all you do is be rude to them. perhaps it is you who needs to get a life. And when 'lisa' goes to winchester and has nothing to do due to the boring area and everyone else is out enjoying themselves in good areas, who will be the geek then?

stop coming on this site you creep me out.

Very few people on TSR are deliberately rude. But they are honest and truthful in their opinions. Just because their comments conflict with your decisions, do not take it as rudeness. They are actually trying to be helpful by offering the truth as they see it. Most people would like to see Lisa have the best university experience possible. If Winchester is the answer to what she wants, then we all hope she will be very happy there. Not many UK students would make the same decision but then maybe that's why they have so many overseas students.

The guardian, 2007, just read; mainly girls and gay guys, in black and white and statistics in one of other two mentioned books, Lisa is used to gay guys with ballet all her life, not a problem, just thinks Winchester is a nicer area and gorgeous gray stone Grade 2 listed buildings. Award winning performing arts and even the student village area. Excellent for social sciences in addition and the friendliest people. As far as travel, she plans to work part time and will go to Paris and other countries while there.

It's black and white that your statistics about Royal Holloway are downright incorrect. How many times do I have to say, in no way whatsoever is the male/female ratio 5/95%! Did you even bother to read the post I made earlier about RHUL? Practically everything you've said on this thread about RHUL has been wrong.

Incidently, I'd be very surprised if the Guardian provided any kind of statistics (let alone accurate ones) about the sexual orientation of RHUL students. Can you point me to any evidence backing up your claim?

Royal Holloway is better than Winchester in every respect academically. It has a far superior Psychology department, for a start.

I'm pretty sure from what i read in the Sunday times uni guide that social sciences are new courses to Winchester sp how can they be rated excellent. I could be wrong though but its late and I can't be bothered to look anymore, especially as everything seems to be falling on deaf ears. :frown:

Saying that i couldn't be bothered, i'm back, lol.

Just looking at league tables for psychology

Guardian:
Royal Holloway - 8th
Winchester - 80th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Times - they only show top 20 for psychology
