I'm not at Homerton myself but since no one's replied I will. With regards distance, I imagine that yes the distance from the centre and the Law faculty would be a bit of a nuisance. As for other information, it's the only college not to give at least three years' accommodation to all undergraduates (most people would think that a bad thing, although some do enjoy living out) and it still has the reputation of being a teacher training college (not that there's anything wrong with teacher training colleges per se!). So to be honest, objectively it doesn't have that much going for it compared to other Cambridge colleges; on the other hand, it has a reputation for being a friendly, unstuffy, and happy place -- I have a couple of Homertonian friends who love it and wouldn't be anywhere else.

Hi,

I'm at Homerton and I love the place - very friendly college and a nice place to live. It is set out of town (only about a ten minute bike ride), although personally I like being a little distance out and don't find this a problem.

I'm in the Faculty of Education so for me it has the perfect location - a two minute walk away! If you think distance to the Law faculty would be a problem then maybe a day trip to Cambridge and seeing the journey for yourself would settle the matter. The reception staff are always very helpful at Homerton so you could have a wander around the grounds yourself and see whether you like it!

Hope that helps.

Also, from 2006 the college has guaranteed accomodation for 3 years - most of which are en-suites - far more than any other Cambridge college.

Homerton is quite a nice college

I lived out last year (my 2nd) but I didn't have to, it seemed like everyone who wanted to live in could. Though I'm moving back in for my final year, it's easier -no cleaning, bills already paid, not much washing up during the week, food is not too bad, no dodgy landlord etc. I'm pretty much set for next year, college meals for the week and nandos on the weekend.

Oh yeah, Choices (dvd rental shop) is close by, and a bowling place, pizza hut, subway etc. There isn't anywhere to buy food, if petrol stations don't count. I usually do all my icecream/ribena (all i seem to buy) shopping at sainsburys (north) when I'm in town. Or I go down Long Road to waitrose(south) (better microwave meals here), long road is as the name suggests. I went to budgens(east) once, it's scummy don't go there.

I honestly think all non education homerton students should get a bike, the bus is poor. It's like a 10 min cycle or about a 25-30 min walk to the centre of town.

Homerton has a new bar and the grounds are really nice. Most of the students are cool.

Lot's of sports and things going on. Our library is quite good looking I think, it needs proper (you can sometimes connect to some non college network for free internet) wifi though.

There are plenty of non education students now, and next year there might be more.

hope this helps

Hello

I was just wondering - as sad as it sounds - how do you get round the whole no blue tack issue - i live for my bits and bobs in my room that make it look like a Camden town stall.

thanks
