(English) Literature and History joint honours - Hull or Essex?

I am from Birmingham.

I haven't visited neither, but I am looking forward to something new!

Which Uni is better? Are they respected? Essex offers literature, whereas Hull offers English literature, which is ideally, what I am interested in.

Accommodation is finishing tomorrow for Essex.. Hull wants a response by tomorrow. I like Essex's flexibility - if I do well in the first year, and choose to drop say literature for something else, then I can. I was indecisive as I was selecting the course, so it's good to have that at the back of my mind.

My best friend lives in London and I LOVE London, so that helps. Hull seems old style, I like that.

So opinions please!
