Why do I need to sleep so much?

In the last couple of months I've been getting very sleepy during the afternoons most days and it's really annoying. I get my usual 9-10 hours a night then suddenly feel really weak towards 3pm and have to nap. It's weird because it feels like the sudden urge to sleep like when I had glandular fever 3 years ago, except I have no other symptoms. I don't think I'm anaemic, and I eat fine, it's just the sleepy problem.

It seems to get worse when I'm home alone and not around other people as well. Is it possible to just get so bored my body would rather sleep? Lol any replies welcome

Actually, it is. It's a case of conditioning yourself not to do it really. I suffer (I'm tempted to say "suffered", but I only got over it recently, and if I make it too past tense it'll come back :p:) from the same thing, and the only way to stop it is to keep active and force yourself not to sleep when you 'feel like it' more than you need to. If 9-10 hours is ok for you then keep it like that, through whatever means necessary.

Either you dont do enough exercise (usually the main reason), your diet may be poor or its possible (but unlikely) that you have a medical probably such as diabetes, anemia etc. Speak to your GP he'll probably give you a blood test to check for anything abnormal or if its all ok, tell you to do plenty of exercise and eat a balanced diet. Beng tired all the time isnt normal.

Here's a thread I made on a similar problem. See if the information I received in there helps.
