My brace fell apart!

ok, yesterday i was kind of grinding my teeth and heard a crunch. but when i looked in the mirror everythign was fine. this morning however, whilst brushing my teeth i noticed soemthing wiggling.

one of the brackets of my brace had fallen off and is just being held on by the wire that goes across! now what the hell am i spose to do? i was gna call my orthodontist up but i been at work all day. and omg its strange its so painful now!

im thinking im gonna call up first thign tomorrow morning and see what they say, but im scared theyre gonna say i havent been taking care of it! its not even been 2 weeks that i've had it on! :frown:

Ring your orthodontist, get an emergency appointment - you'll get a *******ing but other than that you'll be grand

Edit: yeah sometimes the glue can not set properly if that was the case (only 2 weeks on like) never worry you won't get a *******ing but yeah just ring ASAP
I had the things at the front pop off once or twice, they won't blame you

i cant speak from experience, but if a brace falles apart after 2 weeks, i'd say it was shoddy workmanship! they cant say you havnt been looking afterthem, unless you've been chewing on a brick!

i had that, while i was eating a chocolate

anyway go to the orthodontist they wont say anything apart from asking how it broke

The same thing happened to me the first day I had my brace on. Two of the brackets popped off. Just call your orthodontist as soon as you can to get an appointment arranged. I wouldn't worry about it - I believe it's quite common, so they won't mind as long as you contact them soon =P.

I had that, you need to phone the orthadontist to tell him so he can get the equipment out put it back on, but you wont have an 'emergency apointment' it will be next time you are scheduled to visit him.
Dont sweat. It is no big deal at all. They will just stick it back on, and maybe even change the wire so it isnt pulling as hard on the bracket. I am always going back to the orthodontist to get stuff changed. Its pretty hard to do any damage to it yourself anyway..........relax.....................

That happened to me and I called up my orthadontist and they said I could come in straight away so they could sort it out. I didn't get told off.

When I had braces, one of the bracket type things came off on at least 3 seperate occasions, once about 2 hours after the orthodontist has reattached it. Incompetent ****e didn't believe me.

What's all this talk of emergency appointments...I was told if it's just one that's come off to wait till my next normally scheduled appointment to get it reattached O_o.
Don't worry about it!

I was eating a sweet and broke one of the bits of mine, I rang up the next day and got an appointment at 9.00 he just cut off the bit that had broke and said next time he'll just add the new one on.

It wasn't on one of the wonky teeth though just on the back tooth so not a major problem.

It depends if it's actually fell off or whether it's still connected to the wire but isn't stuck to the tooth if you know what I mean, if it's still attatched to the wire then it'll need cutting off.
When i went to one hospital - my brace broke within the first week!! They were just rubbish!! At the other hospital (where i try and get my appointments!) braces last the whole time!!... So yeah they might get a bit mardy and blame you - but just ignore them! Lol!

Each time it happened to me the brackets were, infact, still on the wire. I guess my orthodontist was just a tit.

Min was fine about it, just cut the broken bit off, took about two minutes and he just said see you at your normal appointment.
