Hi! I've been wondering about the elusive reading list too. It surprises me that there doesn't seem to be one!
To be honest, most of the books I've read so far this holiday are not exactly the type you would read to prepare yourself for university :P I've just started the Life of Pi however which I suppose is a bit more high brow, thought provoking etc than what I usually read for fun ^_^ I'm also thinking of reading the E.V. Rieu translation of The Odyssey. It's on the English Lit. course but I have a funny feeling it's not on the EL&CW course. I could be wrong. Either way I'll read it because I already have it at home and I like the idea of Ancient Greek heroes getting turned into pigs
One way I'm going to prepare myself for uni is by revising some terminology. The names of poetic devices, the names of dramatic devices--that sort of thing. I've kind of forgotten a lot of the ones we were taught at A Level and I think learning them again will help with both sides of the course
By the way, do you know if there's a UEA English Literature & Creative Writing 2014 Facebook group? I've been looking around, but I haven't found one yet :/ It would be nice to get to know people before actually starting the course :P
So I was wondering if anyone else doing the course had found a reading list yet? If, not, what books are people reading to get ready for school?
Hey,
I'm starting this course too - not long now! I'm glad I wasn't the only one that was worried that there's been no reading list or other preparation but I still haven't read or heard anything. :P

UEA don't generally give out reading lists this early- no need to panic! You'll get module guides for each module which will usually have a reading list in. It depends on the module leader when you get them- some put them up online on the portal either next week or during freshers, others give you a paper copy first in the first lecture for that module.
