Talybont North

well, as there is a thread for Taly south and court i thought i would make one for Taly north. Just been reading some reviews after googling and it seems rooms are really small, and apparentely its a hole and was affectionately nicknamed talybronx (after the bronx in new york) by some students previously. Oh well gives it that more homely lived in feeling   I am in House B second floor flat 8 room 5.
I lived in Taly North last year. Yes, it's called Talybronx, but I quite liked it. There's a lot more green, grassy areas than Taly South, which I think gives it a nice atmosphere. You're also a bit closer to Tesco, so it's not quite so far to carry your shopping!

Houses A to P (I think) are smaller than S to Y, which is why you pay more for S to Y. It's room 6 of the smaller houses that are really small, which is why you actually pay less.

That's very strange. I was in room 2. Being on the third floor is kinda great because you don't have the security issues that you might have on the ground floor but, on the other hand, the stairs are a pain when you're moving in/out.

Cool. I'll be in room 5

Whats the place like? Ooh, and something that i've not found an answer to yet; are there sockets for tv aerials in the room, or do you have to bring yer own if you want one?
House W is quite nice - it's the biggest building, actually, with 16 flats. It's pretty basic stuff, but the rooms are a decent size, I suppose. Beds aren't anything special. Our cleaner, Jill, was lovely - I think it's probably a good idea to keep on the good side of the cleaning staff, you know?

No, there aren't aerial sockets in the room. There was one in the kitchen, if I remember rightly, but we never used it and I don't even know if it'll work. Take your own aerial - if your parents or whoever are going with you, they could always take it away if you don't need it! I managed to get Freeview, too, although one of my flatmates couldn't. It might depend on the box you have.

As for how close you are to everything, Taly North is about a five minute walk from an absolutely massive Tesco (although that could be a little more, depending on which house you're in exactly) and a McDonalds. To get from the far end of Taly North to Taly Court, it's about a ten minute walk. And then probably another ten minutes or so to get to the Law Building or Humanities Building.
