Student placement at Microsoft

I am interested in doing a 48 week industry placement as part of my degree at Microsoft in Reading or MSN in London (Soho) working with Sales, Marketing or Business Development/Operations.

http://www.microsoft.com/uk/careers/graduates/placements.mspx

There is nothing stated on the website in terms of requirements (grades expected - 1st/2:1, past working experience etc...).

Does anyone know what MS require from students that wish to take part of this programme in terms of grades, working experience etc…

Student Placements

Anyone attending a UK higher education establishment whose course includes a requirement for spending time in employment is eligible for the student programme. The programme offers undergraduate placements for 48 weeks (July to June).

After sifting through the site myself, this was all I could find. As a guide, 300 UCAS points, and aiming for a 2.1 seems the most common policy for sandwich year schemes (for example Big 4 accountancy placements).

My bad, thanks. Didnt find that information.

300 UCAS points - would that be AAB (I have not studied in the UK before)?

So it should be quite hard to get a placement? According to their website, they get about 1,000 applications per year for their placements.

Wow...triple post. BTW 300 points wasn't mentioned on the site - I am just saying that's what most other programmes ask for. It is BBB by the way.

Not sure how I managed to triple post. I emailed MS earlier should be interesting to see what they are asking for. They only offer £14k though banks offer around 20-25k.

MS recruits heaps of interns, at least in the US makes the balance sheet look good :P

Mr Bing - £14k is roughly the average wage for a placement student within the UK. You will have to be one of the top few to get a placement with a salary in excess of £20k.

OK, thanks. I think it really depends on what type of industry sector/placement you are looking for. Most major banks in London offers a higher salary for placements then £20k.
