Need time off work- don't want to tell colleagues about circumcision

Recently got a circumcision. Don't mind telling my boss the truth but I work with a couple people that went to the same uni and id rather not tell them in case they mention it to others.

I've taken a week off work so need a decent excuse for this.

Cheers
Just say you're having medical treatment you'd rather not speak about.

That would be fine but the guys in my office are very open so I'd come off looking as the guy who listens to what everyone else has to say but won't mention his own personal affairs.

Tell them that you had haemorrhoids removed

That's less than helpful.

Why?

You had an op that you do not want to discuss

You need an alternative op that would require about a week off work

I need a regular op that is less embarrassing than a circumcision

If you're not going to make any positive contribution to this thread then gtfo

I intended to be helpful

You are embarrassed about an op you have had

You cannot get embarrassed about one that you haven't had

Still - you were clearly looking for different help

Perhaps a wisdom tooth - though that would not usually be a week
Does it have to be your op? Can you tell them it's someone else's - a parent's? - and you need to look after them for a week?

That also stops them asking to see the scar...
why does it have to be an op?

can't you say it was annual leave or you just had flu/food poisening?
Saying you were off because of a different op makes it more complicated than need be. What if they ask to see your scar? I'd personally just say you don't want to discuss it.

Though if you're really set on the operation excuse my first thought was a hernia.
