Well my GHD's started doing that and it turned out it was because I'd caused the lead to malfunction by wrapping it around the straigheners

Anyway, I took them back to the hairdressers where I bought them, they sent them back for me and I got a new pair for free!

Maybe you should get in touch with the place you bought them from or GHD themselves?

As above I would contact whoever you bought them off as a £100 pair of hair straighteners should last more than 2 years therefore you should get them replaced for free under the sale of goods act.

I bought them off ebay, off a proper seller who has a shop selling hair accessories/products.

I think the seller said when I bought them that they only had a 12 month guarantee, so would there be any point contacting him?

Check to see whether they are still selling, if they are and they are a business seller (i.e buying things to sell not just selling their own stuff) they don't really have much choice although I doubt they will be too happy.

They are a business seller as Im aware and still operating on Ebay, I managed to get into my old Ebay account (from when I bought them) to get the sellers details. Im just thinking thats its been 2 years 5 months now, would they be getting 'old' after that amount of time anyway, how long do these GHDS normally last??

My GHDs started going funny after 2 1/2 years so yeah i guess that the normal time for them to last. The plates started coming off so i just had to replace them. I figured for the amount of times that ive used them and will probably use them in the future it was worth buying a new pair- ive lost the paper work and reciepts anyway so not too sure if i could have got them repaired..

In my opinion they should last longer, and you don't need to provide any paperwork.

i had mine for just over a year and they kept switching themself off so stopped getting hot. but i think it was just a loose connection inside cos they worked when u held them at a certain angle. so i sent them back to the proper ghd people to see if they could just repair them and they sent me a new pair
you can always try sending them to them asking if they can repair them. see if they are worth repairing.the worst they can do is say no.

it doesn't matter where you bought them from or how much you paid for them. if the ghds are faulty, send them straight back to GHD with a covering letter explaining the fault. they don't need to be in the original packing and you don't need the receipt. if there's something wrong with them there's something wrong with them, end of.

ring this number first: 0845 3301133
and explain the problem, then they'll give you an address to send them off to.

i've been using GHDs for over 4 years now, had the first batch that went out, which blew up, and over the years have sent back 3 sets cos all have had problems. but i still wouldn't use anything else. you'll find they are really good with returns and will generally just send you a new set in the post with a letter appologising for the problems you've had. x
