I need some help please. I'm doing judicial precedent, and there is this question on the importance of obiter dicta, and the qustion has (8) marks.

Question: 'The only part of a case that takes effect in a binding precedent is the ratio. Give reasons why the obiter dicta is neverthless important.

It puts the ratio decidendi into some sort of context. Also, it can offer advice on future decisions which have slightly differents facts.

There are probably loads more, but they are the only ones I can remember from memory.
