I don't know anything about Medisix and PRemed but I've been on both Medlink and Medsim!
I know a lot of people say they aren't that useful on your ps but I enjoyed them both so much! You learn quite a lot of useful things, make loads of friends and have such a laugh! I preffered medsim 'cause it was mostly practical stuff (the call out in the middle of the night was rather funny even though it did result in me having a 'severe anxiety attack' and ending up in Queens A&E:hmmmm: ) Medlink some of the lecturs did get a bit boring but over all I loved both experiences and recommend people to go even if its just to have fun! I learnt a lot on medlink about applying to med school and ps, then medsim was just about having fun in my opinion!

Do you know which universities host which courses? Also, how much does it cost roughly?

... go to medsim rather than medlink, ive heard. premed is the medicine access course you can apply for at uni if you havent taken bio and chem a levels, i think.

MedLink.. HUGEST waste of time and money.. i gained NOTHING from it.. yes i had a good time but i could easily have done that for less!

MedSim..better..had fun learnt stuff.. yes might not be all that useful for applications but MUCH better than MedLink

Medlink is the december one and Medsim is the june one?

If I remember right, from what my sixthform teacher mentioned, they are taster courses. But Medsim has more practicals and medlink is more theory.
Get in touch with your nearest Medical School, or Royal College if you're near one. These things are often arranged free of charge for schoolkids. The Uni/Royal College events are run by real live doctors. The expensive courses you mention are run by people who want to take your money.

Medsim is totally awesome, i met so many cool people and had a really fun time. You meet hundreds of other people who all want to study medicine so its worth the experience, or just the fun if you have the money available.

Admitedly the courses can be expensive just over £200 for each but once your there the praticals and lectures are done by doctors and medical students and if you can afford it go, its fun!
If you go to Medlink expecting it to contribute to your application in any way, don't bother.

If you/your parents/your fairy godmother can afford £200 and you want to have fun with a whole host of other people & listen to (some) interesting lectures - go for it.

Personally, I would spend the money on a good interview suit & get some (free) work experience ... which will actually contribute to your application.

true say, if you think this will help go do it for your own personal satisfaction, but think about this there are going to be hundereds other with the same experience, who are going to write in their ps i went to medsim or medlink, not really unique, but if you go find your own unique work experience for example GP surgery (yes its not really unique) but your unique experience at the GP surgery is what will get you through.
Has anybody been to Pre-med??

yeah, i went to premed. it's at imperial in december. it's decent, but it's nothing you wouldn't have found out from TSR or NMM. the one good thing about it is that you don't feel a pretentious fool with a "stethoscope" doing 'clinical skills' like you do at medlink.
Would you say its worth going to these things or not, especially pre-Med...

i might be going...it's no where as near as pricey as medlink and the leaflet says it's got a lot of positive feedback from past attendees. i'm also going to check out the uni, as all the open days were booked...
Anybody going to Pre-Med then?
