At 17 years old most people are developed enough to do weights

I'd say so, but make sure you know what you're doing:smile:

research proper techniques for each exercise
neck down, you're probs good to go!
If you join a gym they can give you a proper induction on how to use them, and most gyms have a policy on over 16s using weights so you'll be alright.

No.
Go lift weights.

It won't interfere with your growth if you're 17. It's BS.

Just don't go do something stupid like compress your spine.

imo it would not be a problem but reps over weight would be the way to go.... end result would be definition rather than mass wait a few more years untill you start hitting big weight most weight lifters on the pro circut peek at around 30 so you have a long time if you want to build mass..

Most professional bodybuilders peak after 30 and remain in their prime for their 30s, but those are guys who probably started lifting a fair bit earlier than 17.

17 is fine to lift.

1-4 reps for power
5-7 reps for myrofibril hypertrophy (strength)
8-12 reps for sarcoplasmic hypertrophy (size)
13+ reps for endurance
It does affect you if you lift weights that are too heavy for you, but as long as you are sensible then it is fine and actually benificial to you
