The Student Room Group

London | Company

Most of my friends are the non art lover type, and i must say follow the "gangster" trends. However im really into my musicals, theatre , and very much into Art. My friends dont appreciate this whatsoever....so when it comes to going out and doing things i enjoy, my friends arent usually up for it....

is there anyway to change this?
or any suggestions of meeting people similar? (apart from anything uni related)

thank you

Go out to the things you enjoy on your own and make friends there.

I would say join a theatre group... some of my friends are involved in a youth theatre and have a fantastic time. You don't have to act - you could be a techie, designer or another support role.

If by that, you mean HipHop, then fix up. HipHop is art.

If you're a uni student it should be easy to meet new people who are interested in the same things as you. If it's theatre you're interested in, why not join a theatre group at uni (just help out backstage or something if you're not interested in acting) and I'm sure you'll meet people through that who you could go out and do things with.

There are lots of opportunities which aren't connected with uni, you're in London make the most of it!

I used to be part of a theatre company called The London Bubble. They have workshops for all ages, and do performances. There will be lots of similar things you can do.

nope not at all, in fact they've been doing it since they were in school, there are people from ages 9 up to 21 involved.

but I'm sure if these arent your ideal age groups there are other theatre groups for other ages!
Gosh, I know how you feel artistical music! all my friends in my home country are not into art at all and it's only when i go back to uni in london that i can talk to art peeps!
