oh wait..rambling, yeah that might let off some steam..dunno how long that would last though

I find it useful. It organises my thoughts - if I don't write things down or talk about it, then it all just goes swirling round my head.

Least if it's written down you can rationalise it.

how do ya rationalise a ramble, my rambling thoughts are all irrational and make no sense whatsoever, well they make sense to start with and then just get bigger and bigger until my brain explodes. hee hee im doing it now, god i could do this al night and the morning, hell i could do it for a week! ok ill stop now and continue that one later.

I find wriitng stuff down very soothing personally, so I'd definitely advise it if you need to sort out your thoughts or just rant to yourself.

Reply 5

Yeah it's great. I have a blog to do it, I also have 2 written diaries, and sometimes I've been known to storm off into the library at school and rant about 2 sides of A4... it's very therapeutic.

I find it helps alot to write things down; i find that things can seem horribly twisted and confusing in my head, but that once i get them down onto a piece of paper and can actually look at them, things tend to become alot clearer. Even if i dont come to a solution or entirely understand, im generally alot happier and feel more in control after writing things down....i dont think it works for everyone though, i know people who dont find it helpful at all, but will have other ways of coping.
Everyone's different....i guess it either works or it doesnt

Reply 7

Why dont you just say it in your head as if you where telling it to someone else.

I find it really helps. I used to write out pages and pages whenever I was stressed about something, and it helped me sort it out. I've now been keeping a diary for over a year, and it helps me work out what I actually do think and feel.

yeah, i find it really helps too. it makes everything easier so you can see reasons clearer and makes thinking of what to do next easier too.

also it's fun/cringy to read back on all the embarassing things u did in the past, or to see how far you have come since then.

Does writing stuff down actually work? I mean like big stressy pis*ed off rambles, is it good to just let rip onto a piece of paper or whatever. Ive heard of the talking cure thingy but thats when you talk to another person. Does it do any good if you just ramble away to yourself. Seems a bit weird to me, anyone do it and find it useful?

I've tried that. Not so good. People just think you're a crazy lady and ask if you need help finding your way home... Then again, I probably wasn't supposed to do it in public...

Anyway, a journal definately helps me organize my thoughts. Once I understand completely why I'm upset, I know who I should talk to about my feeling or how I should modify my own thinking about the situation.

Cheers.

I find it the easiest way to organise things when it feels like my head might implode. I don't like to burden other people with my worries when they have their own to contend with, so I committ them to paper and it helps to make sense of whatever's on my mind. I keep a diary for mundane things but other times I have been known to just wander off to the library and write pages of whatever happens to be weighing on my mind.

It really helps me, but it doesn't help everyone in the same way.

Sometimes.. if you write it down then read it back you can see that you're usually either not making sense or being really pathetic. Helps me to laugh at myself at the very least, calming me down a bit!

I always write stuff down that i need to remember. and if Im annoyed. one time i wrote a stressy letter to the times about the views of another reader. if that wasnt embarrassing enough, they published it

i can't live without writing stuff down. especially during the school year. there are always so many things on my mind, that when i write them down, it's almost like cleaning my hard drive. when i write down wuts on my mind i can think clearly again. it's amazing.

Cos then you're liable to walk into lampposts and generally look like a bit of a mentalist?

I found that writing stuff down worked for me for a number of years, and as I became happier and less confused I needed it less  So definitely try it - although it may not work for everyone.

I keep a diary so I can express my private thoughts and things.Sadly,I tend to get drunk and tell people what's in my diary.

your more likely to do that if your writing it down! Infact i assumed most people had the common sense to realise you could do it in your own time, in bed or something.

But theres always someone who has to be 'funny' and bring something like this up, and for a change its not me

My mum swears by doing it and then ripping it up, and burning it. As a symbolic kind of thing, it's bound to help, even if only on a psychological level.
