Alcuin anyone?

Was just curious if anyone else has gotten their accommodation in Alcuin yet. I found out yesterday that I'm in the H-block. Anyone else?

I think they usually send out a letter, but I was emailed cause I told them I wanted to be. I think if you call them they should be able to give you more information and may even tell you your accommodation.

Rang up, had a nice enough lady who apologised for her mouth full of food as she'd just come back from lunch...uh, this is a bit irrelevant. What IS relevant is that I'm going to be in E block of Alcuin!

I've been told it's got a bit of a posh, quiet reputation though so we'll have to daub the walls with blood (or at least make an effort to get to know each other during freshers' week).

E block is party block. It's also within spitting distance of the bar. They also have en-suite BATHS. It's also the oldest block in Alcuin (iirc)

Aren't blocks P&Q part of Vanburgh college even thou they are written as Alcuin College...

Yes, Alcuin P and Q count as Vanbrugh. Known as 'Valcuin' in the vernacular, etc etc.

Hi I'm in Alcuin can anybody tell me if its the kind of college where you actually cook food, or the kind where you only have a microwave and eat out? Should I bring a frying pan and other cookery stuff?

Alcuin actually has proper kitchens, yeah. They will vary in quality depending on what block you're in, but even the worst ones will be better than most you'll find on campus.

Block Q was completed in January - admittedly it was after the new students moved in, but it is definately complete!

whats all this Valcuin stuff?! whats alcuin like? i cant wait, but i hope the atmosphere is stil good even though its ensuite. the freshers thing says all we have planned for 4 days straight is pub crawls! no karoke, deal or no deal, costume parties, talent shows, treasure hunts?!
