there IS a political thing going on in Taiwan too. Its really stupid. The KMT just cant give up. KMT era is over.

they make it sound like WOAH THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE RIOTING. when its only a few ppl there. there were thousands the first day. but now theres like, what, 100? suckers.

IM GOING TO THE BOAT CRUISE!! YEAH BABY! haha, it sounds really cool dont you think? I mean ferry boats here are boring. Its like taking a bus. Cus theres this river that runs through the city. and we take the ferry instead of the bus cus its faster at times. but thames! wooot!
hey so i was right about one thing today, yay me!

and looks like noone from southwell is deciding to go to the mingle instead of the cruise (at least out of those on TSR) so if we all become social rejects because of it at least we'll be in it together. :p:

i think we'll have plenty of chance to attend things like the mingle. but how often do we get to cruise along the thames with our hall-mates huh? :p:

plus, no worries about becoming social rejects. I doubt we'll be missing much cus its the first day everyone gets together. and by the next such event everyone still feels like a stranger.

what mingle ? I didn't see it on the paper.
and yeah, I woudn't miss the cruise for anything, it being free making it even better.
this mingle

that mingle....

well personally i wouldnt like to jump into smth that big the first day. i prefer the boat cruise for so many reasons.

oh and you know what. im going to have to get up at like 6 am to pick up my brother... *sigh*

Is anyone getting that free pick up bus thing from the airport on the 30th? Cus i emailed them and they sent an automated reply saying the guy was out of office for september. who else can i email, does anyone know?

oh, well then I agree with ananji, there will be plenty of other mingle-like things but 1 boat cruise and the cruise is better since it's people from the hall so people you'll be seeing very often.
don't know about the bus thing, who did you email ?
so you're coming on the 30th anjani? be warned, you may feel VERY sleepy during the cruise

and also the cruise is FREE! plus i think the whole clubbing/ getting v drunk thing is overrated.

the cruise is just another place to dance and get really drunk
Is there a particular dress code for the boat cruise?

I'll be preparing myself. i.e. go to bed REALLY LATE in taiwan and get up REALLY late, and when i arrive in the UK my uh.. circadian rhythm? will be similar. haha

anyways, more importantly:

on the IC website (http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/international/startingatimperial/arrival/reception/) it says theres an important sounding reception on sunday at around 11. but southwell has a tour at 11! i really want to go to both!

PS: tahngarth, its "Anjani" not ananji. indian nick name ive had since i was born.

well that was uni village but it got censored

about the reception and the tour now you got me wondering which I should go to.
Home students don't have to choose, lucky them.

im at southwell too in a twin room.
yea the boat cruise definatly sounds cool , all dark along the thames... Who knows if we'll even make it back in time for the mingle? or not-- we can go to all the others the following week...

its weird not knowing at all who we'll be sharing with? though i guess thats part of the excitement

Im wondering which to choose too-- but if you noticed it looks like the bus tour is only half an hour so maybe we wont miss out too much if we go to the international student's reception?

last year they gave us all coloured t-shirts according to the "colour" of our kitchen groups. Theres 4 or 5 such groupings. They wanted us to wear those on the cruise, but I didn't because im lame. They take a group picture of all the groups that day too, but me and my room mate didnt know about. Because we were too cool. Well, he was.
