Won't it clash with Zineryt? You can drink alcohol, just don't get sloshed. Why don't you try some of the "Simple" cleanser range from Boots and use Freederm for a bit whilst you wean yourself off the Zineryt before introducing the Minocycline. Tetracycline is a better smelling topical application than zineryt and might work slightly better. Ask your GP cos you need a perscription:smile:

well, i'm on minocycline right now and i've been on it once before, for one month with 100mg. It works like magic, i swear. I didnt get any side affects wutsoever and my acne is pretty much gone. the only thing is that (like most antibiotics) it's not good to take them for toooo long (like months and months) and for me, my acne comes back about a week after i finish the bottle. but it works wonders. another thing you might try though (which can be taken in addition to minocycline) are birth control pills. you can take them forever and it won't be dangerous to your body.
good luck!

im a bloke so dont realy want to start taking the pill ....lol but my myocycline is in tablet form, its not a topical lotion like the zineryt, and it wount interfere because its supposed to be taken in conjunction with a topical lotion,

It works great for me, I haven't had a spot since I started taking it here *touch wood* my spots seem to be disappearing. I wouldn't recommend taking it while you're on holiday though. At all.

how long have you been on it?

I've been on minocyline for 2 months and the only side effect I'm having is skin discoloration on my lip, it's not too noticeable though, so I'm not too bothered.
oh god, just take them, lol.. ive been on them for months now and i drink often and dont get any side effects
Id have to be against it as a close member of family went on it and ended up in hospital because of it.The drug also at one time was in newspapers because of so many people having really bad side affects. But, everyone reacts to a drug differently so do what you want to.Im only sharin mine and other peoples experiences.
Also when you stop using it i think the spots come back.
I went on Roaccutane for 4 months and havnt had a spot since. That was 2 years ago.But that drug is also controversial.
I guess they all are

I was on it when i was about 14. I used zineryt with it. Didn't get side-effects, but after a while they stopped working, but i develop resistancy to medicines really easily. I was told to have a 3 month trial and if it works then keep on it. It all worked well for a while, but my body got used to it. Your doctor isn't likely to prescribe you something they think you'll react with (hopefully)!

im currently on a repeat perscription for the drug and seriously it has worked wonders for my skin. Dont get me wrong when i first started taking it i lot quite a lot of weight rather quickly but i stopped it for a few months and my skin was all out with sports again however dont use the lotion (Zineryit) because thts what i thnk cause some skin colouration..it actually looked like i was waering foundation which when tryin to convince ure m8ts tht its something else is pretty tough..So since it worked really well on me i went nd got a reapet perscription for it, been on it for about a year now and i have no problems with the spots, ok i get the odd one or two now and then but thts ok. Ask ure doctor about Minocin MR, thts the form of minocyclin i use and its pretty effective. infact its the strongest u can get, next step up is going to see a dermatologist...
Also mayb try modifying ure diet, u'll be surpirsed how much eating more fruit and veg and drinking water can do for ure skin....

It seems to have worked for me!
Am I the only person to have misread the title of this thread as "motorcycling for acne". That'd be a pretty cool treatment, but also slightly weird. In order to make this slightly less off topic, one of my friends at school went to a hospital in London to have some laser treatment to help his acne. He said it felt like a little warm pinprick on each spot. It seemed to work.

Depending how bad your acne is, you might want to consider Accutan. A lot of bodybuilders use it when they're on a steroid cycle to stop acne.

I have no personal experience of it, however, since I have never suffered from acne.

I was on minocycline for 50 days and it did just slightly clear up my skin.
I had no problems at all when taking it (i didn't know you were not allowed to drink alcohol  ),but went off it after the 50 days as there was no big improvement and started some time later on some cremes which work perfectly fine.

If you take minocycline be sure to take a strong probiotic pill with it! It will destroy the probiotics in your stomach and gut which will allow fungus to grow and cause so many problems!
