I'm struggling to think of ideas for my language investigation (A2 English Language), preferably want to focus on gender or technology...

You say "gender or technology"... How about focusing on them both? Perhaps look at how a particular genders communicated with certain piece of technology; so for example you can look at how males use "txt speak" more in text than girls, who stick to formal language?

You should look at the theories you learned in gender and presumably in technology and adapt those theories to suit your interest and then find out if there's any other theories on your topic.
