I'm going to hold out and see how it goes. I'm not that sure, with the university being set out on a campus, I'll be needing it. The question you need to consider is: Will you spend more than £70 on bus travel this first term? I'm not sure I will.

Personally, I don't really mind walking around. Tesco isn't that far away, and I'll happily walk it (although maybe bus back with my bags!).

They are good passes, though. I had one while I was at college, and you could use any bus, any time, for free. But then I had to use a bus at least 4 times a day to get to and from college making it worth it.

The only time I see myself using the buses is to go to tesco, the odd shop and perhaps a night our or two (and I'm sure most people will stick to the uni events for the first so many week).

Not too sure, but NUS may give you say 10% off the fare anyway, I know our local service had something similar if you didn't buy a pass you could still get discount as a student.

well... for the second year for sure because we'll be leaving outside of campus. but first year, i don't know. i'm considering it too. but then think about it, it costs 1.10 to get to coventry. then it means that roughly you will need to go to coventry and back every second day to justify the cost. will we do that during the first term? perhaps once or twice per week, but probably not more than that... so, i think not getting a pass (at least for the first term) might be a good idea...

Yeah it'll probably be very useful in the 2nd year, but I don't think it'll be used much in the first term!

You really don't need one when you live on campus. However they are handy for 2nd/3rd year- get a travel cov bus pass if you live in coventry/kenilworth or a stagecoach one if you live in leam though.

parrently ...if you want to do shopping...can get taxi back from tescos for like 5/6 pound I think so if you share with others...

why would u want to go into coventry apart from when u have to get the train?

I reckon I'll want to go in just for a change of scene occasionally... look round the shops and stuff. Or go to somewhere other than the union at night!

Coventry is a scary place at night..and I thought Manchester was full of weirdos at night....lol...if you need some retail therapy, best go to Birmingham...BULLRING

I believe there is also an off peak week pass for £4:20, which could be better if there is an odd week you want to go into Coventry a few times.

Instead of the £70 per term ones you can get a £180 yearly one (from travel west midlands, applicable to those who live in coventry, not leam).
I was looking at the yearly one but I don't know how much I'll be using the bus in the last term. I could attempt to cycle. During revision and after exams I might not need to be on campus much and my boyfriend might finally pass his test and get a car...
Having said that, if I'm instead going to archery every other day it might be worth it...

I really don't know!

Basically freshers don't need a bus pass.
Yep, freshers definately do not need a bus pass.
Yes, I need one. I got assigned off campus accommodation. B**tards.
That said, the SU is only 3 or so miles from coventry(according to google maps)

If you are in Liberty Park I think they give you a free bus pass. Best check with them though.

Currently, definitely not the case. Something the SU thinks should be the case and is pushing certain people to provide, or at the very least subsidise.
