Would most girls/people look at this guy and think "bodybuilder"?

Bodybuilding, in terms of the general public consensus, is not necessarily a career and doesn't require one to compete. A bodybuilder works in the gym to build their muscle definition for aesthetic purposes (most people would also have some kind of size threshold, which this guy definitely surpasses).

He is just unpleasant-looking and his pouting pictures are, frankly, ridiculous.

Too many wrinkles for my taste.

You've falsely assumed that these bodybuilders are walking around all year round at 3% body fat; that's nonsense. 99% of the time they have healthy body fat levels just like anyone else on the street. They drastically cut their body fat in the lead up to bodybuilding shows so that you can see all of the vascularity and definition in their physiques on stage. They are literally only 3-4% body fat for 1 or 2 days.

And this thread was about guys who compete in men's physique; i.e. - the guy I posted pictures of in the OP. I only posted pictures of 250 lb mass monster bodybuilders so that someone who replied could understand the difference between the bodybuilding class and the men's physique class.

And, when you say that the majority of women don't find it attractive; that's probably true when you're talking about shredded, ripped bodybuilders. But pretty much every guy who competes at a high-level in men's physique has a 10/10 girlfriend. The guy in the OP dates a victoria secret's model. And the comments on every one of his IG pictures would convince me that girls do in fact like his body.

I think you're very naive about this topic... bodybuilding has literally nothing to do with how "strong" you are; that's powerlifting. And "protein-filled drugs"... just lol.

You are aware that I am not knowledgeable in the area, which I admitted in my first post. I believe you are twisting some of my words. This thread may be about those competing in men's physique, but our discussion pointed me towards bodybuilding. I didn't assume that these men walk around with such a small body fat percentage all year around, I asked if it was healthy, no matter how long a period it was for.

If your assessment that "pretty much every guy who competes at a high-level in men's physique has a 10/10 girlfriend" is correct, then they clearly have different tastes to me, and I may have wrongly judged that most women are not attracted to that body type.

I am no specialist in the area, but is it not a lie if you pump up your body with drugs and supplements to increase muscle mass? Also, if the drugs are not filled with protein, which builds muscle, then what are they filled with?

I am phrasing things as questions because you are clearly more knowledgeable in the area than me.

What usually attracts people to appearing a certain way is the increase in attraction to the opposite sex, so if women are repulsed by bodybuilders, why do they do it?
I understand that sometimes it's a case of addiction, whether that's to the protein-filled drugs, or a mind-set, but that means both are health conditions, which surely isn't a good thing?

Some people lift weights because its a hobby, it's kind of fun to set yourself goals and achieve them. It's a good way to keep in shape and you end up getting more serious about your health if you want to make gains. It's also a lot more attractive to the opposite sex than being a fat slob or a skinny weakling, since most guys wont be as muscular or have a low body fat like those guys on stage since they've gone past the point of diminishing returns.

One of the biggest misconceptions the general public has it that, in order to be a bodybuilder, you *have* to use steroids. Whilst a lot of them do, and certainly every bodybuilder that competes at the highest level (e.g. Mr Olympia) does, there is still a *lot* of natural bodybuilders who compete in natural shows.

In fact, I would wager that the vast, vast majority of males across the world that lift weights on a semi-serious basis are natural. Most people aren't willing to cope with the side-effects and potential health risks unless they're going to be making money from it.

So, the guy who is in the OP, claims to be natural. Whether he is or not is a different story but his physique definitely *is* attainable naturally with around 10 years of dieting and training. He is on the absolute peak of what the body is able to do naturally, though. Your body reaches a point where its hormone levels are literally incapable of supporting anymore muscle growth; it's at this point where steroids are needed if you want to get bigger.

Take the bodybuilders I posted below the physique guys, as I said above, they are all *definitely* on steroids... and large amounts of them. It's impossible for the body to get that big naturally.

As for how the steroids work, sorry if I came across rude, it was just a bit "wtf" when you asked if they were filled with protein, lol. The most common steroid is just variations of testosterone; the male hormone that is responsible for building muscle under stimulus. So if you greatly increase your testosterone levels by injecting yourself with it, you will grow muscle at a much faster rate. It's like being an ultra alpha male for the duration of the steroid cycle.

That's one of the less "serious" steroids... they are far more anabolic drugs out there that the top bodybuilders will be using. The basic idea behind them is that they stimulate excessive protein synthesis (muscle growth) in a short amount of time. You also get bodybuilders at the top level using things like growth hormone and insulin; anything that makes them grow.

Bodybuilding to that extent is obviously very unhealthy. But as for the guy in the OP, he is probably a lot more healthy than 99% of the population. Very fit, muscular, functional and following a very healthy/nutritious diet.

Bottom ones are all on drugs. There are natural bodybuilders too.

as are all the top ones too, they just don't take as much, anyone who competes or makes any kind of money off their physique is on gear, bodybuilders, fitness models, physique models etc they're all on dat dere

And the vascularity of the bodybuilders I posted above is due to the fact they are shredded to the bone; they are literally only about 3% body fat. The average man is around 12-14%.

.

lolwut no, more like 20-25%

About 70 pounds of muscle is the difference.

Oh wow OK I see what you mean. Compared to the bottom men the top ones look positively normal!
Goal physique right there

Who cares what average women think, I lift to attract the hot ones

This.
being a bodybuilder and competing in men's physique competitions aren't easily distinguishable to the average eye, hence he'd likely be called a bodybuilder by many girls.

I'll be honest, I don't know the difference either

both a bit unnatural/vile/creepy and both come with a fair amount of vanity imo
I'd probably think
Steroids
Tiny penis

..yes body builder

*snip*
That's an artificial physique, not a great one. The human body isn't made to be turned into that.

And I don't think 'bodybuilder.' I think 'get a life, prettyboy.'
I never understand the tiny penis thing...most people I know who go the gym have big dicks. Their high test levels gives them a more drive to go the gym...high test means bigger penis.

Loads go to the gym because they're short though.

Looks disgusting.

I agree.

He probably could compete in 'natural' bodybuilding. Of course he looks small when you compare him to genetic mutants like ronnie and cutler.

Going of the first image I'd say he's been tango'd.

Most guys that lift spend 1-2 hours a day max at the gym. I'm bigger than most guys I only lift for 1 hour a day. I bet you spend more than 1 hour on the internet alone, let alone the hours you waste on watching tv, eating junk and gossiping with your friends.
