I think you are still protected in the 7 days break, check on the information sheet that came inside the box with them, i am pretty sure it says on there.

Reply 2

you are still protected as long as you've taken it properly for the whole 3 weeks!

Reply 3

ur still protected but ONLY if u start taking the next pack on time. thats cos sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days (although the nurse once told me it was 7)

Reply 4

yeah you're protected as long as you continue to take it right for the next week or so. you can start taking it early, eg on thursday, but theres no need.

Say I had sex next friday but didn't take my pill until the Saturday night, would I still be protected at all?

are you talking about unprotected sex? you do know its not 100% effective dont you? i cant remember the exact figure. its either 95% or 99% i think. but i would recommend using a condom as well. cos otherwise, if you just forget to take it once in the next couple of weeks, chances are you'll be pregnant. which kind of defeats the point of taking the pill in the first place.

The pill is more effective than a condom in stopping you from getting pregnant.

Only if the condom splits. Why did you need to be anonymous to type that?

Sorry to invade your thread but I don't want to create yet another pill thread, but basically finished taking my 1st eva pack on wed and it is now sunday and still no bleed is that normal?

Reply 9

Um what.

If taken correctly, the pill is over 99% effective.

If used correctly, a condom is 98% effective.

I find it extremely hard to believe that sperm can swim through a rubber wall. Please show me where it says that if the condom doesn't split there is still a 98% chance of pregnancy.

Err. Wtf. Are you real?

I think the 98% for the condom includes the fact that even if put on properly there is still a 2% chance of it splitting.

My pill leaflet says the pill is over 99% effective if taken properly.

And other factors, as listed on that link.

Alas, i was correct. The factors aren't of the fact that the sperm swim through the rubber - which is what i was referring to. Of course if it slips of/has holes in/splits there's a risk of getting pregnant.

Reply 16

Well I'm not sure tbh, if the statistic of 98% is without those other factors or not.

Point of the argument - The only safe way to not get pregnant is not have sex!
