How strict is clearing with their a-level requirements?

Let's say I want to go to Southampton, but they are offering AAB for their course. If I only have BBC, what is the likeliness that I could still get in?

Would they be lenient? Or would just say no straight away?

I've just finished first year at one university (I got 70%+ in all my modules), but I don't particularly like the place and want a fresh start. I should be starting second year in a couple weeks, but I was looking through clearing and it is just tempting me to give it a shot.
Depends on their clearing grades and how many spaces they need to fill. It would be different each year, presumably.

Unis know what grades people need to be successful on their course, and it's likely that BBC would be too low. Not all unis will lower requirements but if they do it's usually only one or two grades
