liberty house itself is a private house. she said whatever the accommodation is, its going to be on the Warwick side of Coventry, so the earlsdon area, etc. remember that they are going to look for university managed accommodation, if they dont find any then it will be privately rented.

im thinking this is so much better because, the rooms will be bigger, we would be able to have a mini fridge in our rooms, there will be less people to share kitchens with, rooms may even be ensuite! and we would get longer letting periods which would mean less carrying stuff to and fro like the hall students would have to do, also it near the city, coventry station and the uni.

this is the link to the place i found the info on the liberty house website http://www.libertyliving.co.uk/?action=coventry&site=libertypark&page=cost the woman from Warwick said that liberty park said that they have costs to cover so thats why they are asking for so much upfront...

Correct :frown: I got the email this morning, I completely didn't think of this last night :frown: and its a single room share!! Not a room for two!:frown:

Hi, I'm in the same boat as you, it's rubbish. At the bottom it does whether you do or do not accept the offer though. What happens if we decline the offer? Do we receive single rooms or are we shipped out off campus?

I asked this question in my response...suffice to say I haven't received a reply yet. After a bit of thought, I re-emailed to say I'd accept it - there's really no other choice and hopefully it will be very temporary.

It says if you reject, you wont be able to get on-campus accommodation
I didn't see part that on the e-mail. So there actually is no alternative?
Its not on the email. Its the part where you click confirm or reject. I was considering rejecting mine...I clicked reject, then you have to fill in your reasons why, at the top, in small writing it says it
wow i'm baffled. I received an e-mail and was told to reply via e-mail, there was no accept or reject part. Sorry, but can you explain a bit more? I received simply only an e-mail.
heh, someone i know who is going to Warwick as his insurance choice (didn't get into Imperial) got allocated to AV (his first choice)...talk about lucky, eh

why say that!?
because this is a thread where we talk about where people have been allocated.

your timing, considering the posts directly prior to yours, made it seem although you were trying to wind people up...

Hi there, can I ask whether Rootes was your first choice at the time you completed your accomodation application? I put Rootes as my first choice, and I've ended up with "temp shared accommodation", needless to say I'm not the only one.

I've just been given westwood and its *******ing shared... this is s***!!!
I put Warwick as my firm choice but didn't get my first preference of accommodation (AV) but did get my second preference which was Rootes. I did apply well before the deadline. I'm confused as to how they allocate the accommodation from reading what others have got!

hey i was offered Liberty Park, but the place is ridiculous they expect us to pay up to £1500 in 10days :-O if i had that kinda money sitting in my account i might as well have started paying for my tuition fees then. i just spoke to the uni and the woman said that she understands that what they are asking for is ridiculous because a lot of people pay for their accommodation through their student loan and student loans don't come in now. she said that they tried to get them to give is more time or less to pay but they refused.

she said that what they are going to do is that for students who don't want to go to liberty park for financial reasons or otherwise, they are gonna group them together and find them a university managed house or a private one (like liberty park but more lenient). she said that i just have to wait by next week, so that is what i am going to do.

liberty park would be good, but the amount they expect us to pay and in 10days time is unreasonable. hey call up and tell them that you want to join the group for another house pls pls pls pls pls lol it will be fun pleaseeeeeeeeee. unless you have £1500 sitting in your account.....

Hi
i am in the same boat. I really wanted campus accomdation i didnt care where, but liberty park is carzy. Firstly i dont have 1500 to pay upfront. this means i am screwed as i cant get the accomdation plus my student finance is going to be delayed by a couple of weeks. I can get the 1500 and pay it back once i get my loan but is it worth it if not many warwick freshers are going there and i may not enjoy it.
i dont know what to do. any suggestions would be helpful
thanks

My preferences were the same as you, (AV first, Rootes second) and I got new Rootes. I applied the day the email came out, it seems a bit random the way they allocate lol.

It doesn't matter how advance of the deadline you apply as they don't allocate first come first served, instead they wait till after results and allocate according to what kind of mix of people or whatever they want in each block. Be happy about Rootes, it's an awesome place to live. Wasn't my first preference but I ended up there and had a great time because the people I lived with were lovely. Its not where you live its who you live with. Life would be rubbish if you had a nice room and your own shower if your flatmates were not people you liked.
