Kingston as a place is ok, there's not THAT much going on in the town, only a few clubs that people actually like. I would prefer living in central. Kingston itself isn't actually "in" London, it's a London borough but it's still quite far...

Hi i'm due to start at kingston this year, studying architecture. Does kingston have a good reputation for architecture? I'm starting to wonder if i made the right choice!!

Hey tinkerbell,

I studied slmost a year of archi at Kingston back in 2001/02, here are my 2 cents' worth on the subject n the uni generally.

Archi

Generally i thought i was not bad... i quite enjoyed my time in the subject - quite a few off-site trips worked into the first year which made things interesting!

However, I thought SOME of the tutors were quite unsympathetic and unhelpful - some of them really conformed to the "excentric"-but-snobby artist stereotype. I thought they could have offered me slightly more guidance - and I didnt really feel i got enough for my fees! :P

However that may have juts been my own difficulties, I came from maths and sciences at a-level so maybe those faults were of my own making.

The Uni

I talk mostly from my experiences of the Knights Park campus, since thats where i spent most of my time.

My sentiments regarding the subject i studied aside, i really do have fond memories of my time at Kingston. I loved the town, small and quite friendly - great for shopping and very "niche".

I suppose it may have been the novelty of living away from home for the first time - but I really did have a cool time at Kingston.

I have some reservations about the Penrhyn Road campus, i pnly went there a couple of times but didnt like it much.

Kingston is an ethnically diverse uni, so if that puts u off then so be it. I liked it like that tho, theres people from all over the world, and all over london too.
