How can you love someone when you have no idea what their real personality is? Love for me comes from respect of the person and it's definitely a two-way bond.
Infatuation at first sight is a different matter, however :p:
Yeah, but you get a fairly instictive impression of what a person's like

Yes, my little joke is if you end up dating them etc and it goes well it really was love at first sight! But what you experienced was attraction or infatuation.
Nah, she was adorable, i just sensed it

No, you are just a psychopath.
Thanks. I don't know why people are so cynical, i just happen to make heartfelt and very instinctive judgements

First judgements of people can often be wrong. People are a lot more complex under the surface, and you can only find these out from a close relationship with them.

There is no such thing.

You cannot love someone based purely on looks.
It's the whole package that you love - including the faults - which you cannot possibly do from looking at someone.
Yes but talking to them breifly??

If she is still there go and talk to her, but if not move on and stop beating yourself up over what may or may never have happened.

I very much doubt that after a brief encounter you can know a person well enough to be in love with them.

It is lust - nothing more!
Mmm.. i think you could.
Thanks dreamygirl, someone on my side?!

I see both sides of the debate remember?! Lol.
yes you can

I think it depends on how you define love.

But I'm on your side. The most amazing experience I've ever had was falling madly in love with someone as our eyes met at a party. I cannot begin to explain the profoundness of my experience. A moment that last for eternity is closest that I can come to putting it into words.

I got to know her better after that, but for various reasons, we were never romantically together.

But I take other peoples point about truly knowing the details of a personality, good and bad, and the deepening of love over time.

As i said, it's all how you choose to define love.

yes you can

How?

How can you be in love with looks? That is not love. Love is EVERYTHING, the good, the bad and the ugly - not just the first instinct - that is what lust is there for.

i agree with this, like you get the impression that shes perfect etc, but i dont know to what extent its true...sometimes you can tell as soon as they open their mouthes :P (that they really aren't what you thought they were like)
Yeah, but you must say that instinctive judgemnts about a persons trustworthiness, niceness etc are 99% right, well they are in my case
