JSA: Is it worth it?

I worked part time from 16-22 alongside education. I did part time/ fulltime/ part time work after graduating so I have contributed some national insurance.

I phoned JSA yesterday and they're going to send the forms out. I work as a substitute teacher am under 25. I have a day tomorrow.

Posts on the internet suggest that whatever you earn gets taken from your JSA. Is this true? Will it mean I'd be left with nothing even if I only work one day a week (less than 8 hours)? This is so confusing.:colondollar:

I have zero idea what you're on about :s-smilie:
If you're under 25 I think it works out at about £56 a week. So if you earn £40 in one week at work, they will make up the extra £16. If you have no work one week they will give you the full £56. If you earn more, eg if you get 3 or 4 days a week, inform the jobcentre what you have worked and they will pay you according to that.

It's worth having just in case you don't earn much one week, you'll always have that bit of income
