HSBC student account free mp4 player
Hi, did any1 open the hsbc student account where u get a free mp4 player, if u have how did u recieve ur free mp4 player, as in did u have 2 apply for it or wat????

I tried, for months, to get an HSBC student account, but they ****** me around so much, wasted so much of my time with messing me about, and then just completely ignored me, so don't get an account there.

HSBC>all banks.. I've been with them for like 9 years, they rock!! Go into a branch and ask!! I'm sure they will give you whatever answers you want 
you obviously didn't have to go to them 8 times over a 2 month period, have to get half a dozen different ID's, talk to idiot after idiot who doesn't know what they are doing, meaning you have to go there again, to talk to someone else, and then finally have them refuse to call you completely when they claim they will sort things out (as well as not being able to even breathe without contacting head office first, to see if its alright)... *stops ranting*

.. Sorting out things with HSBC has always been straight forward for me!Why dont you go there with a letter saying you are in uni, take your provisional and that should be it

, as far as you dont already have another student accountyep, did all that, but i needed ID too. Birth Certificate wasn't allowed, nor was Provisional Driving License (because i was over 16 or something, which is age discrimination in itself, but thats another story), and although they claimed that the NUS card was allowed, they didn't seem to accept it, though in the end i don't know why they didn't accept my account there. I don't have a student account anywhere else.

i've been with hsbc for 10 years and i haven't had any problems i appllied for the student acc about 3 weeks ago went into the branch and they just changed my acc to a student one straight away.
and then they will either send you another form or an email which you fill in to say whether you would like an mp4 or 10 cds.

the NatWest 5-year railcard is WAY more valuable. Get the crappy MP4 player off ebay for £15 with postage from Hong Kong (the same players are cheaper on ebay than in the shops in HK, you know)

HSBC have been fine for me as well, you must have been unlucky!
For the record, 512mb mp4 players are like £40 on ebay, making the 10 free CD's more valuable

i had to do this... so bloody annoying. In the end the manager just used her discretion and put it all through.

lol you guys really shouldn't choose an account based on the freebies!
as for HSBC, they stole our young enterprise company money, after taking 5 months to set up the account!! however for personal banking, i know people who have had no trouble with them, although they were banking with them before wanting the student account so it was probably easier for them

I'm going to open my student account with HSBC this week. I've been with them for 7 seven years and they are very helpful.

Muppet that I am I opened an HSBC account before they kidnapped Santa Claus' toy factory.
But yeah, HSBC are annoying. They sent me letters telling me they didn't believe I was living where I told them I was (so why send the letters?). Their mini cash ISA has a nice interest rate though
